Pedro Infante IV

Imagine carrying one of the most prominent names in Mexican showbusiness history, ever. Is it a blessing or a curse?

This is the experience for Pedro Infante IV (AKA Pedrito), whose name was passed down from his great grandfather.
It’s no secret that life for the Infante’s, especially Sr. and Jr. ended tragically. This was something that Pedrito’s mother, Annel, sheltered her children from. It was important to her that the trauma of the past not affect her children and that they were able to live a happy and normal childhood.
The oldest son of Pedro Infante III is Pedro Infante IV, who is now 10 years old and lives in Los Angeles. He has an older sister, and two younger sisters who also carry the “Infante” name. He is a typical little boy; interested in Roblox, slime, school, and now, interested in music and acting, just like his great grandfather.
He has shown interest in music and acting from a young age, and his mom started to notice his potential and determination, although hesitant to act on it due to the pressure that could result in trying to go into show business with such a recognizable name.
Pedrito, although knowing who his great grandfather was, never knew the actual impact and legacy that he left behind, until he became old enough to understand it. He grew up watching his movies and listening to his music, just like many of us Latinos did growing up.
For Pedrito, born into this generation, his musical interests have been more focused on people like Justin Timberlake, Ozuna, Ariana Grande, and Marshmello. However, that doesn’t take away from his eagerness to want to learn to sing Spanish rancheras – we’ve seen it done before – Selena didn’t speak fluent Spanish until she began to sing in it.
Infante and his mother explained that the name causes more difficulties than it does otherwise. Many people think that there’s a feeling of entitlement and automatic acceptance with such a recognizable name, when it is the complete opposite. Infante feels like there’s such a comparison to his grandpa that makes it more difficult for people to take him seriously as he tries to make his own path.
It is just the beginning of Pedrito’s path towards a career in music and acting. Like any other artist trying to make it in such a big playing field, it takes hard work and dedication, but will his path be one that follows the success of his great grandfather?
Whatever the outcome, Charro Azteca will be here to cheer him on.
