When and why do we celebrate Veteran’s Day?
Every Novermber 11 we set aside the date to pay our respects to those men and women who have served in our military. The holiday began as a way to honor the heroism of those who died during their service after World War I. It was originally named “Armistice Day” but in 1954 was changed to the day we now know as Veteran’s Day, in order to honor all veterans who served in ALL wars.
It is a day to forget to debate whether or not people agree with the politics of this nation, but to honor veterans for their patriotism, love for this country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice everything for the common good of the people. Not everyone is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
